Design: The Architecture of Spirituality – The Masjid of Purification

The final design proposal for the Purification Masjid – مسجد النقاء in 6th of October city.

The design concept statement is: Minimalism as an architectural translation of spiritualism

The design utilizes the use of spacious white spaces and uses the play of direct & indirect light to attain the spirituality and piety of prayers.

The design is carried out in linear longitudinal lines to accentuate the spiritual importance of the Qibla and achieve a direct visual connection between the Qibla’s horizontal axis (towards Mekka) and vertical axis (towards heaven).

The Vertical lines of the design are prominent, to  create a strong visual link with heaven and give a sense of aspiring heavenwards, furthermore, above the qibla, a skyline is present to achieve this visual link.
